The Power of Music

Anyone that knows me knows that I love music, and especially house music! For my long runs it helps me pace, fuels my motivation, and keeps me inspired. Like running, music is my therapy. It is food for my soul and focus. I allow the songs, the beats, and the messages into my heart and through my body. During our long run this past weekend this song (the one below) came on at about the 16 mile. As I listened to the lyrics and beat I felt so connected with myself, the moment, and God. I really don’t know how to explain what happened but an energy overtook me, and as I kept running I started to cry and give thanks and praise to God for this moment. I was mindful that in that moment God was my source, my health, my ability, my life, and purpose. It was deep, but anyone that knows me knows that I tend to go there…deep. During my training sessions I try to allow my body and mind to receive the moment, receive the experience, and be open to the process unfolding ….sometimes music helps  and sometimes not but what I do know is when I stay open amazing things can come upon me and through me- that’s when I realize I am but a vessel.

Be ready, willing, and open my friends….Enjoy the song and be open to inspiration..

The Source Ft. Candi Staton – You’ve Got The Love (Alexei & Carlos Kinn remix)

Lyrics to You’ve Got The Love (Alexei & Carlos Kinn remix) by The Source Ft. Candi Staton

Sometimes I feel like
Throwing my hands up in the air
I know I can count on you
Sometimes I feel like saying
Lord I just don’t care
But you’ve got the love I need
To see me through

Sometimes it seems that
The going is just too rough
And things go wrong
No matter what I do
Now and then I feel
That life is just too much
But you’ve got the love
I need to see me through

When food is gone
You are my daily meal
When friends are gone I know
My saviour’s love is real
Your love is real

Every once in a while
I say Lord I can’t go on
Every once in a while
I get to feeling blue
Every once in a while
it seems like I am all alone
But you got the love
I need to see me through

Occasionally
my thoughts are brave and friends are few
Occasionally
I cry out Lord what must I do
Occasionally
I call up Master make me new
You’ve got the love
I need to see me through

Sometimes I feel like
Throwing my hands up in the air
I know I can count on you
Sometimes I feel like saying
Lord I just don’t care
But you’ve got the love I need
